Step 1

In this exercise, we are going to read through a short story, identify several grammatical and spelling errors, and then provide a corrected version of the text.

Proofreading Exercise

2
Step 2

Let's look at the first few sentences. Notice the verb 'feel' in the first line. It should be 'filled'. Also, 'recipant' is a misspelling of 'recipient'.

1. ...excited crowd feeled the air -> filled

2. The recipant rose -> recipient

3
Step 3

In the third sentence, the recipient rose on his 'foot'. Since humans have two, it should be plural, 'feet'. Next, look at 'envison'; it's missing an 'i' after the double-s.

3. rose on his foot -> feet

4. they had envison -> envisioned

4
Step 4

A few lines down, we see the word 'convinience', which is misspelled. It should be spelled with an 'e' after the 'v'. Also, the word 'faithfully' describes the day, but 'fateful' is the correct term for an event that changes one's destiny.

5. without the convinience -> convenience

6. On this faithfully day -> fateful

5
Step 5

Now, let's assemble the corrected story carefully. We will fix the spelling, verb tenses, and logical word choices.
